After an initial crash-test session carried out last springthe ADAC, the TCS and their partners are coming to to publish the results of the second session of their annual crash tests. At this session in October 2019, 20 new car seat models were tested to assess their performance in terms of safety, ergonomics, operation and pollutant content. The good news is that all the car seats evaluated were convincing in the frontal impact tests. With excellent results in both frontal and side impacts, the BeSafe iZi Kid X3 i-Size even picks up the best score ever obtained by a seat in the safety category since the new test protocol was introduced in 2015. The Swandoo Albert i-Sizea newcomer to the market, came out on top in this test session. Overall, 16 models were rated "good", 4 were judged "satisfactory", while 2 other models were rated "poor" because of excessive pollutant content.

Too high a concentration of pollutants
Since 2011All the parts of the car seat that come into contact with the child are examined to determine their safety. pollutant content. During tests, the naphthalenea substance suspected of being carcinogenic, has been found in the coatings of the Hauck iPro Baby (with and without base). The value measured was above the authorised limit, the final score was devalued by ADAC. However, this was not its only shortcoming. Although all the car seats tested performed well in frontal collision tests, the Hauck iPro Baby has partially detached from its base at the moment of impact, partially ejecting the dummy placed in the seat. Although it offers better protection when used with the vehicle's seatbelt, this model is not recommended.
