Installing Britax Römer Dualfix i-Size

Easy to install, the Dualfix i-Size car seat can be used in all vehicles equipped with ISOFIX fixings. Green and red indicators, located at the level of the ISOFIX fixings and strut, confirming that the seat is correctly installed and reducing the risk of incorrect installation. Thanks to the ISOFIX anchorage points, the Dualfix i-Size is firmly attached to the vehicle and can, if necessary, be installed in another vehicle.

To minimise seat tilting and provide maximum stability, the Dualfix i-Size is equipped with an adjustable anti-rebound bar that can be tilted up to 8°. This allows the seat to be perfectly adjusted to the angle of your vehicle's backrest.

The only drawback is that, because of its weight and dimensions, you will certainly have to move the passenger seat as far forward as possible to be able to install the car seat in the rear and turn it. In smaller vehicles, this won't leave much space for the front passenger.

Britax Dualfix i-Size Car Seat Safety

Numerous safety innovations set the Dualfix i-Size apart from its competitors. To offer a high level of protection in the event of a side impact, the Britax Dualfix i-Size is equipped with SICT Inside (Side Impact Cushion Technology). This optimised side impact protection incorporates a special steel element directly into the seat shell, which absorbs the energy generated by the impact by guiding the forces exerted into the inner part of the seat.

Unlike the retractable or removable protection systems found on other models such as the Cybex Sirona or the Joie i-Spin 360No need to adjust or adapt anything. This integrated side impact protection will always be ready when you need it, without extending the width of the seat once it's installed in the vehicle.

In terms of safety rear-facing car seats offers the best protection in the event of a head-on collision. That's why we strongly recommend that children travel with their backs to the road for as long as possible.

The V-shaped headrest has been specially designed to control the movement of your child's head in the event of a collision. It provides optimum protection and comfort for children of all ages and sizes.

In addition to the headrest and the Pivot Link system, which reduces the forward movement of the car seat in the event of an accident, the seat's enveloping shape and deep, padded side walls also add an extra level of protection.
They act like a protective cocoon around the child to further reduce the risk of serious neck and head injury.

Dualfix i-Size ADAC & TCS Crash Test Results

Le Britax Dualfix i-Size and the Britax Dualfix M i-Size have achieved excellent results to the 2018 crash test sessions. During the various tests, the ADAC and the TCS found no major faults apart from the vehicle's considerable weight and bulk. From a safety point of view, the ADAC noted a low risk of injury in the event of a frontal or side collision for both models. In terms of pollutants, they were awarded top marks, guaranteeing a total absence of harmful substances.

In terms of its overall score, ADAC rated the Dualfix i-Size as "Good" with a score of 2,1/5,5. For its part, the TCS awarded a score of 4 out of 5 stars (highly recommended).

• Dualfix M i-Size

Le Dualfix M i-Size also achieves very good crash test results. ADAC describes it as "Good" with a score of 2,1/5,5 while the TCS also gives it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars (highly recommended).

The comfort of the Britax Dualfix i-Size car seat

Compared to the previous version, the rotation system has been simplified to make the operation quicker and easier. The Dualfix i-Size now pivots using a single button on the side. What's more, the seat can swivel to any position, whether it's facing or facing the road.

By swivelling the seat to face you, you can also easily install and fasten your child in the seat in a matter of seconds.

To keep your baby safe and comfortable, the Dualfix i-Size comes with an infant reducer that can be used from birth up to a maximum height of 60 cm (approx. 6 months). The insert reduces the angle of recline and makes lying down more comfortable. Unlike most car seats in the same category, the Dualfix i-Size is a model that is truly adapted to the morphology of newborns. When your baby is too big for the reducer, it can be easily removed to give him more space.

Once comfortably installed in the seat, your child is perfectly supported by a 5-point safety harness with a wide, secure anti-slip pad.

The height of the headrest and harness straps can be adjusted simultaneously at the front of the seat to adapt perfectly to your child's growth.

To ensure that your child always travels comfortably, whatever their morphology, the Dualfix i-Size has a total of 12 recline positions. The recline angle can be adjusted at any time simply by operating the lever on the front of the car seat.

You can choose from 6 forward-facing recline positions, as well as 6 rear-facing recline positions, including an ergonomic reclining position that's ideal for baby's naps.

As well as adapting perfectly to the backrest of the rear seat and holding the car seat securely in place, the tilt of the bounce bar gives your child up to 10% of extra legroom.

The quality of the materials and the seat padding are excellent and retain their shape well. The car seat's polyester cover is fully removable for easy machine washing at 30°.

The different Britax Dualfix models

Since the launch of the first Britax Dualfix, this car seat has been available in a number of different versions, each with its own new features and improvements. Unlike the Dualfix i-Size, the Dualfix M i-Size does not come with a reducer for newborns, which is why it cannot be used from birth. Swingfix i-Size and Swingfix M i-Size are Scandinavian versions of Dualfix i-Size and Dualfix M i-Size. These models are identical in every respect, with one exception: they can only be used in the rear-facing position. This is why they have been certified by the Plus Test Suédois.
