ADAC & TCS Crash Test Results for Car Seats (May 2019)

In order to increase child safety by car, ADAC and TCS regularly test new car seat models. The crash tests are carried out, twice a yearand are jointly produced by various European bodies. For this session of crash tests in May 2019, 24 child car seats have been tested for safety, operation, ergonomics and pollutant content. These models include, four of them were tested with a connected alarm system (sold separately) designed to prevent children being left alone in the car. The winner of this test session was the Bébé Confort Jade + 3wayFix scores "very good. He was convincing in every category. In contrast, the Chicco Oasys i-Size and the Bébé Confort TobiFix are the only two models to have been judged "insufficient. The experts also noted that the average price of seats was rising overall. Car Seats With Connected Alarm System

Firstly, the Chicco Oasys i-Size is equipped of the Bebècare system which detects the presence of the child in the seat and alerts you when you move away from it. The Cybex Cloud Z i-Size, Cybex Sirona Z i-Size and Cybex Sirona Z R i-Size use the SensorSafe connected device. Once attached to the harness, this connected sensor to your smartphone automatically alerts you in the event of danger. You are directly informed when the child takes off his harnesswhen the temperature is too hot or too coldwhen the child is left alone in the car or when your child has been left in the car. sitting too long. These alarm systems are each connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth. They work with a dedicated application which you will need to download onto your phone. Although convincing, experts fear that parents are relying too heavily on the system and are less vigilant.

The losers of this Crash-Test session

During this crash-test session, two models of seats were noted "insufficient. During the frontal collision test, the belt buckle of the Chicco Oasys i-Size Bebècare tore away from the hull, causing the throwing the dummy out of the seat. Chicco has since carried out a recall campaign on this model to correct this fault. For the Bébé Confort TobiFixis its pollutant content too high, leading to a downgrading of its rating. Successor to Cloud Qthe Cybex Cloud Z i-Size complies with European regulation R129 (i-Size) for rear-facing use of 45 to 87 cm (from birth to around 18 months). For optimum safety, this seat is equipped with a side impact protection system (LSP) and an energy-absorbing shell.
