Your child's safety is paramount when travelling by car. Choosing the car seat The right car seat is crucial to guaranteeing protection in the event of an accident. ADAC, Germany's leading road safety organisation, has just published the results of its autumn 2023 tests on 29 car seat models, covering all categories from infant car seats to booster seats for older children.
ADAC 2023 car seat test results
ADAC assesses each car seat according to rigorous criteria of safety, ergonomics, ease of use and pollutant content. This year, 21 models received a "good" rating and 6 a "satisfactory" rating, demonstrating an overall high level of safety. Among the baby car seats, the Besafe iZi Go Modular X2 i-Size + iZi Modular i-Size Base and the Cybex Cloud T + Base T received particularly high marks.
On the other hand, although most of the models received good ratings, two of them, the Maxi-Cosi Pebble 360 Pro and Maxi-Cosi Pebble 360 Pro + FamilyFix 360 Pro car seats, were judged 'insufficient' due to a high concentration of harmful substances.
Major changes in standards
- UN R44 car seats no longer on sale: From August 2024, the sale of car seats complying with the old R44 standard will be banned. This regulation, based on weight classes, will be replaced by the i-Size standardintroduced in 2013, which takes into account the child's height.
- Priority to Isofix : Car seats with Isofix fixing car seats are generally safer and easier to install than models fitted with the vehicle's seatbelt. ADAC therefore strongly encourages the purchase of Isofix car seats.

The Besafe iZi Go Modular X2 i-Size is the direct successor to the iZi Modular X1 i-Size. This infant car seat is suitable for children from birth to around 12 months (75 cm). It can be installed rear-facing, either with the safety belt or with the iZi Modular i-Size isofix base for added safety.
